Alternative Baseball Cincinnati Updates – May 2022

Practices
The Tri-State Continentals of the Alternative Baseball Organization have had two successful practices thus far. Players have worked on fielding, hitting, throwing, and running the bases. Unless otherwise noted we practice each Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00, at the Gregory J. Missman VFW Post 9630 in Batavia. *There is no practice on Mother’s Day, which is May 8.

More Players Needed for 2022 Season

Our roster size remains at ten players. We’ve added some new players, but we’ve lost some players as well due to other commitments. We do not have a specific roster maximum, so any interested player is welcome to sign up.  We welcome teens and adults with a developmental, intellectual, or physical disability, aged 15 and older. The player signup link is https://alternativebaseball.org/player-pool. No past baseball experience is necessary.

Word of mouth is currently the best way to get the word out to the community about the ABO team for Cincinnati. Consider forwarding this newsletter link to your friends, family, work colleagues, and classmates.
 Player Fees

While it’s free to register as a player, we will be asking players and/or their caregivers for a $30 fee to help pay for the mandatory general liability insurance we’re required to have for our ABO team.

The Need for Volunteers and Additional Coaches

We also need more signups from those willing to join as a coach or volunteer. To get involved, visit https://alternativebaseballcincy.org. A background check will be done prior to any volunteers or coaches joining our team. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.

Alternative Baseball Information Session – May 9 on Google Meet
We will have another information session on Monday, May 9 at 7:00 p.m., to talk about what Alternative Baseball is and to talk about the new team in town, the Tri-State Continentals.
The Google Meet link is https://meet.google.com/vmo-adzx-gyn.
I will try to answer any questions you may have about Alternative Baseball and the spring/summer plans for the Continentals. If you have questions but are unable to attend the Google meeting, you can email me anytime at alternativebaseballcincy@gmail.com.
Sponsorships

If you own a local business and are interested in more exposure and foot traffic to your business, consider being a sponsor for the Continentals. For $200 for one year your business will be promoted on our social media outlets weekly, OR on our local website. For $250 for one year, your business will be promoted on both the website and social media

Sponsorship money helps us pay for travel to games vs ABO teams in Louisville and Beckley, West Virginia. It’ll also help pay for more uniforms and equipment as more players come on board.
